Raccoon Removal:

Raccoons can be a significant nuisance to your property. A raccoon’s ultimate goal is to find food, shelter, and other resources. They will tear through anything in order to achieve this goal. With their opposable thumbs and shrewd natural instincts, breaking into your home can be a breeze for these crafty critters.

Adult raccoons can be relatively large and cause a lot of damage fast. These guys can ravage an attic by destroying electrical wiring, duct work, facia board, eve vents, and dry wall. One of the most common places raccoons lay their young is in attics! Raccoons love dark places making your attic the perfect nesting spot. It provides a safe place out of the elements of south Florida weather and away from predators. It is essential to address this problem as soon as possible.

Raccoons are also known to leave their feces in and/or near pools. They can carry diseases such as Leptospirosis and Roundworm, which can infect humans and pets. Raccoons, foxes (red and gray), and bats are considered a primary carrier of the rabies virus in the United States. A rabid raccoon will be aggressive and act strangely. Rabid raccoons usually die within 1-3 days of becoming infectious, however it is very important to keep raccoons out of areas that you or your pet may come in contact with.

Detecting a raccoon problem:

As mentioned above, raccoons can cause structural damage to walls, tear insulation and duct work, and destroy electrical wiring among many other things. Below are some things to help you detect if you have a raccoon problem.

  • Trash cans fallen over, garbage bags ripped open with trash pulled out

  • Large droppings in your yard and/or pool (not from your pet)

  • Damage to eve screens or soffits that lead into your attic

  • Vent screens on the roof ripped off or moved aside

  • Small holes throughout your yard (They’re searching for grubs, nuts, insects, and worms)

  • Odd noises such as scratching, thumping, or crying inside the attic or walls

  • Small foot prints along your pool deck, fence line, in your yard, or on your roof

Raccoon Proofing:

Once the animal(s) is/are removed, immediate preventative measures must be taken to prevent any new animals from moving in. Our trappers will install wire mesh over any open roof vents, eve vents, and chimney vents, as well as replace any rotted or damaged facia board to keep this issue from reoccurring. Our prevention and exclusion screening comes with a LIFETIME WARRANTY! We provide our customers with a detailed report along with before and after pictures of any and all prevention measures taken.

As a homeowner, here are some extra tips and tricks that can help keep these guys away moving forward:

  • Keep your yard manicured and free of debris piles that may be home to worms and insects

  • Bring your pets food and water bowls inside at night

  • Make sure your garbage cans are always covered

  • Install bright motion-activated flood lights in your yard that cover the entire perimeter

  • Lock pet doors at night that lead into your home, garage, or porch
